Modern Dental Crowns for Tooth Protection

A dental crown is a protective covering for a tooth. Also called “caps,” dental crowns fit over the tooth and are bonded into place to restore the tooth function and appearance. Dental crowns can be made from a variety of materials, from metals like silver and gold to ceramic or porcelain. In the past, a physical mold was made of the tooth and then sent to a dental lab to create the dental crown. Now, there are more efficient options available to create dental crowns the same day, without the uncomfortable mold process.

At Hollon & Taylor Dental, we have the CEREC technology to design and create same day dental crowns onsite. We can use our 3D imaging to create a digital mold of the tooth and use our 3D printer to create the crown while you wait. This eliminates the need to create a temporary crown and a second visit to take off the temporary crown and add the permanent dental crown.
