Innovative Dental Technology for Efficient Dental Care

3D Cone Beam Xray
One of the advancements in dental technology is the 3D cone beam x-ray. The old x-rays only provided a 2D image of the bones and teeth. With cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), a 3D image is created of the bones, teeth, soft tissues and nerves. The cone-shaped beam takes hundreds of scans of the mouth structure as it curves around the jaw to create a realistic 3D image.
3D cone beam x-rays allow for more accurate planning for dental procedures. We can create digital impressions of teeth for restorations without needing to take physical molds, which can be sent to a dental lab or to our own 3D printer. This saves time and allows us to complete many procedures, especially dental restorations, on the same day.

3D Printing Technology
All dental restorations were once made at dental laboratories, requiring weeks for crowns, inlays/onlays, veneers and bridges to be made. At Hollon & Taylor Dental, we have invested in 3D printing technology. We have a CEREC milling unit and 3D printer that can create dental restorations in about an hour from 3D digital impressions or images. Not only can the restorations be completed the same day, but if changes are needed, they can be quickly performed on-site.
Advanced dental technology can reduce the time you need to spend at the dentist and improve your overall experience. If you are looking for a quality dentist that offers the latest methods in dental procedures in the Springhill and Mobile, AL, area, come see us at Hollon & Taylor Dental.
